Singapore is a small country and it appears as a dot in some maps and it is common to use a red marker to mark the map, I suppose.
The phrase, Little Red Dot, became even more evident and accepted when the former Indonesian President B.J. Habibie said, “Look at that map. All the green (area) is Indonesia. And that red dot is Singapore.”
Soon, more people started to use the red dot to mean Singapore, and is even officially recognised in slang dictionaries to mean the island of Singapore.
So there you are ...... Singapore the Little Red Dot !
